ASPCA®’s
Meet Your Match®
You could be gazing at the animal of your dreams, but you just
can’t tell what she’s thinking behind that furry face. What if you
knew a little something about her personality and habits before
you moved in together? The ASPCA’s Meet Your Match program wouldn’t
let you go home without knowing who’s in that carrier or on that
leash. MYM is the only method in existence today that evaluates
an animal’s behavior and interests and matches them to an adopter’s
preferences so that you take home a pet you can really click with.

Gus: A Success Story
Gus was about 5 months old when he was brought to our attention. Over a period of three months, Gus would appear and disappear near cottages in the area. Quick, smart and totally untrusting of people, Gus avoided capture on countless occasions. He was surviving alone and on his own and although he would play and interact with other dogs, he ran from even those people who offered him food and shelter.

Kitten season continues. We have kittens too young for adoption, nursing moms and their litters, as well as pregnant cats, all in need of temporary foster care.
Fostering saves lives. Newborn or underage kittens are at great risk of becoming ill when staying in any shelter. Placement in a foster home allows kittens to grow and develop in a safe environment where they have the added benefit of being socialized. When these little ones return to the Peterborough Humane Society for adoption they are healthy, happy and love to be handled.
Fostering is a great experience for the foster family. In exchange for a period of love and care the foster family has the knowledge that they have helped these animals on their way to health and to finding their forever homes.

Donations needed
Donations Needed
The Peterborough Humane Society is a non-profit charitable organizaiton and relies on the generosity of the community to meet the needs of the animals in our care.
We greatly appreciate the many donations of items that are dropped off at the shelter every week.
Items Currently Most Needed:
Kitten Food (dry): We have many kittens, pregnant cats and nursing moms and they all require kitten food for good health.
Kongs: These dog toys provide our dogs with stimulation and keep them occupied while they wait for their new homes.
Blankets, Sheets, Towels, Bathmats etc.: Every day each of our animls (cats and dogs) needs fresh blankets or towels to use for bedding. If you're cleaning out the linen closet and don't know what to do with the items that you no longer need then please think of the animals.
Laundry Detergent, Bleach, Dish Soap: We greatly appreciate the donations of the items that help us to keep everything clean and shining. Every bit helps!
